In Mark 2, we see a curious event in the first paragraph or two. A paralyzed man is lowered through the roof so he could be seen and healed by Jesus. Instead of immediately healing him, Jesus forgives the man's sins! Most, myself included, would think he should be healed first because that's what the man wanted, but Jesus knows the real issue, sin and the man's desire to be free of it. Because as Spurgeon quotes,
"Sin, like a venomous disease
Infests our vital blood!
The only balm is Sovereign Grace,
And the Physician God."
Sin is our illness and God's Grace the only cure. Join me in reading Mark 2 and be encouraged about God's Grace and healing.
