Like our politicians today, the Pharisees placed laws and burdens on the populace, but didn't live under the same rules. The loved the adulation and prestige, but not the people.
In Matthew 23, Jesus calls the teachers and Pharisees out for their hypocrisy. They focused on the wrong elements of leadership and as a result, ran afoul of God and His people. "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24 You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel." Matthew 23:23-24
The Bible and Jesus are always relevant and thankfully, He hasn't forgotten the justice, mercy and faithfulness! Join me in reading Matthew 23 and be encouraged!
