The example of the wise men shows that with a longing for God, not a deep knowledge, one can find Him. In Matthew 2, we see the example of the wise men who were foreigners and didn't have a complete understanding of the child who was to become the King. Despite that, they left everything and traveled far from home, following a star. Their passion and an imperfect understanding were all they needed to find God. God honored their desire and passion.
The Jewish leaders on the other hand had education, knowledge and scriptures that pointed directly to their messiah, but because their motives were worldly, they missed finding Him. In fact, they allowed their knowledge to be used for evil!
So, join me in reading Matthew 2 and be encouraged that a heart filled with desire is more important than a head filled with knowledge.
