I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me.
No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, Psalms 25:2-3

In Psalm 25, we see that David is scared that he'll be abandoned and humiliated by God. Kent Hughes writes about Psalm 25, "Why would David be worried that God would humiliate him like this? Two problems are weighing on his mind. First, he sees his sin. Will God realize what a sinner I have been—and what a sinner I still am? Will he finally see the truth about me and reject me? Second, David’s enemies hate him with a passion. The stakes are high—if God does not stand beside him, David knows he is toast.
David’s fears are our fears too. All of us wonder at times, How could God put up with a sinner like me? Will he see who I really am and drop me like a bad habit? And we also feel overwhelmed because the world is against us. There are people who hate us because we are Christians. We have a great enemy, the devil, who wants to destroy us. If God turns away from us, we are doomed.
Verse 3 is our great hope: “Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame.” God is faithful. He will never leave his people at the altar.
Psalm 25 teaches us what it means to wait for God and hope in him.
