Today's reading is Proverbs 27 and we still find that these ancient truths are just as applicable today as they were when they were written. My focus verses today are:
Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. Proverbs 27:1
This scripture reminds me to stay humble and remember that even when all seems good, the only "good" I can count on is my relationship with God.
If anyone loudly blesses their neighbor early in the morning, it will be taken as a curse. Proverbs 27:14
Just because we're giving a blessing, if it's done wrong, the receiver may not see it as such! Approach and delivery does matter.
As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart. Proverbs 27:19
These types of verses always give me pause and make me ask, "Is my life reflecting an image I'm proud of and if not, what's inside me that needs to change?"
Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds; for riches do not endure forever Proverbs 27:23-24
Wealth is fleeting, especially if it isn't cared for.
