Why, LORD, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? Psalms 10:1
While I was thinking about this Psalm, I had to admit I struggle with this feeling too. Often, it seems when I'm in my deepest need, God is far away. And even worse, those who are flaunting God are prospering! It's at times like that when I begin to question God! Thankfully, He reminds me of a number of facts:
1. Just as muscle and strength is produced by working out, so is spiritual strength gained through struggles. Working out is rarely easy, but it's good for me. The same is true with spiritual growth! The exercise is tough, but it produces good results.
2. Just because I feel like God is far off doesn't mean it's true. God will never leave us or forsake us. He's beside us, helping us along, even when we don't feel it.
3. God is a tough judge. Eventually, those who mock, steal and defame will be held accountable.
The bottom line is that God is always with us, even if we don't feel Him. Struggles produce growth and He will hold the wicked accountable in His time, not ours. Join me in reading Psalm 10 and be encouraged!
