This Psalm and the various commentaries around it can really derail me and my relationship with God. So many authors point out the steps David took. When I've read this or other prayers, I've then thought that I needed to follow those 4 magical steps. That's so far from the truth! What verse 1 shows us is to pray earnestly and tell God what's truly on our hearts. If we're honest with God, and since He's Love, then He will be shown His love and mercy!Â
Formulas are great for math and when we're stuck, but they aren't what relationships are about. Tell God what's on your heart and be amazed by "the wonders of His great love!" Join me in reading Psalm 17 and be encouraged!
