Continue your love to those who know you, your righteousness to the upright in heart. Psalms 36:10

In the words of our psalm, “Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart” (Psalm 36:1). Each one of us hears the voice of sin whispering in our hearts. Evil/sin is in all of us.
But there is hope. You and I are sinners, but God is full of steadfast love. This hope is the message of Psalm 36. David contrasts the darkness of our sin with the light of God’s steadfast love—his faithful, loving commitment to his people. First, David reveals our darkness (vv. 1-4). Then, in contrast, David reveals God’s light (vv. 5-9). David ends with a prayer asking God to keep giving and showing his love to him (vv. 9-11).
God gave us his steadfast love most perfectly and fully by sending his Son, Jesus Christ. We are each so bad that Christ had to die for us. And we are so loved that he wanted to die for us. If we belong to him, he will never let us go.
