My primary work is with individuals who suffer from chronic pain. Yoga has a wealth of benefits for these people. One of the things that I notice is that when you've had pain for a long time, you tend to think about pain rather than feeling it. Research has found this too so don't take my word for it. An area of the brain called the Default Mode Network, or the "me-network" just spins all the time. So meditation and learning to disengage from our thoughts can actually really help you unravel those pain responses. This practice is geared toward the average person however. Someone who just needs to get out of their head and enjoy some gentle movement.
You will need a bolster or some pillows for class, potentially a block or two and a blanket as well. You can repurpose anything around the house if you don't have those items.
