Description

Divya Alter is the chef and co-founder of Bhagavat Life and Divya's Kitchen, an Ayurvedic restaurant in Manhattan. She has nearly 30 years experience studying, practicing and teaching Indian spiritual philosophy, yoga, Sanskrit chanting and vegetarian cooking throughout Europe, India and the US. Originally from Bulgaria, she studied and taught Sanskrit in Sweden and India, and has assisted in the translation of many ancient texts. She is the author of “What to Eat for How You Feel: The New Ayurvedic Kitchen,” and “Joy of Balance - An Ayurvedic Guide to Cooking with Healing Ingredients,” as well as the nation’s first Ayurvedic Culinary Certification.

Today, as Sasha and Divya sat down to explore Ayurvedic Food as Medicine and why every Vaidya or Healer is a Good Chef, they connected from the heart on so many levels: their shared love of India (Vrindavan in particular), Hanuman, and all things Ayurvedic cooking - including the mission, Divya’s personal healing journey with Ayurveda, the role of the mind in preparing food, as well as the role of the mind in eating food. We invite your Heart space to expand and let the Ojas of our conversation to pour in.
