Matthew (he/him) and Jo (she/they) rescue “The Abandoned” as we suspect that Quark would like a refund on his purchase of a Jem’Hadar baby. This week we also change up our format a bit and focus on analyzing what this episode is saying about super predators, 90’s parenting and hegemonic family structures and we compare how 90’s Star Trek implicitly trusts the Federation/Starfleet while current Star Trek seems to always be at odds with the Federation/Starfleet. Matthew crowns Jake Sisko with the new nickname “Drake Sisko” while Jo wonders how bad Jake’s poetry is.
