Show 115 Andrew Barber (Visual Artist/Project Kiwi)

Welcome to ALTBAYS Show (feat. Leo Magri)

Meet Andrew Barber

Andrew Barber is a New Zealander Postwar & Contemporary painter. He’s had work held in private and public collections, including the National Collection at Te Papa and the Chartwell Collection at the Auckland Art Gallery.

Andrew creates works by deconstructing and reconstructing paintings through their basic elements - canvas, paint, wood stretchers- and all his products bear incidental marks of their production.

Andrew is also highly involved with environmental causes. He works for Project Kiwi, a trust managing kiwi (New Zealand iconic bird) conservation on the Kuaotunu Peninsula.

The Trust currently uses a combination of pest and predator management and Operation Nest Egg to achieve its primary objective of protecting and enhancing the kiwi population on the Kuaotunu Peninsula.

Put your feet up and enjoy this great chat with the artist Andrew Barber.
