Thomas Everth is a science teacher. He has a master's in physics and is undertaking a PhD in climate change education at the University of Waikato.

He built his electric car many years before it became a popular thing; he is involved with projects that aim to reduce the impact of commercial fishing, and he just finished a project to bring solar power to the local school in Whitianga.
