 Show 184 – Tyler Downey (Animator/Illustrator)

Welcome to the Altbays Show (Feat. Leo Magri)

Tyler Downey is an illustrator and storyboard artist from the USA living in Whitianga, Aotearoa NZ. Most of his work is oriented towards digital design, storyboards and children’s books.

With over twelve years as an artist, Tyler has won commissions for the Ministry of Education, New Zealand, and has recently worked for TVNZ series, ‘Kiri and Lou’. Before the pandemic hit, Tyler was a ‘digital nomad’. Tyler is also into NFTs. One of his creations, ‘Crittlers’, became popular and traded 10.3 Ethereum, which was huge for him. He split half the profits with a charity organisation: Operation Underground Railroad, to help stop human trafficking.

Tyler is also the lead singer of the band Yo-Yo and despite being very aware of how fast technology evolves and how he can use this process to improve professionally, Tyler lives in a remote area of the Coromandel, giving him the chance to blend two worlds and learn from both of them.

ALTBAYS Show invites awesome people to have an honest, laid-back conversation. Our platform focuses on bringing communities together to grow and thrive.
