His parents divorced when Mike was 7 years old which created both internal and external conflict between Mike and his father.
Life changed for Mike when he was a senior in high school and the terrorist attacks on 9/11 happened. He immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served for 4 years including 2 combat tours. After his military service, Mike found himself struggling with combat stress while trying to find purpose and meaning in the world. He faced a critical decision that would determine if his relationship with his father could be repaired or would be lost forever.
