The health and welfare of Lake Placid, North Elba, and Wilmington NY has unfortunately been compromised by the announced closing of our much-needed Adirondack Health's Lake Placid Emergency Room. Our region literally the Winter Sports Capital of America and one of the Nation's premier destination resorts has received many hundreds of millions of dollars in infrastructure investments in just the last year alone, yet we can't afford an Emergency Room? This development strongly suggests political negligence in addition to Adirondack Health's likely mismanagement of its financial operations. Effective recommendations were made to reverse this dangerous development for our region, including bringing in outside revenue cycle experts and auditors to evaluate how the hospital's finances are being managed as well as to develop a plan to improve the profitability of the hospital to make our Emergency Room affordable!
