Today for episode 6 of the Daily Dose of Sarahtonin podcast, Sarah chats with Counseling Therapist, Julia Webster. They talk about Julia’s struggle with an eating disorder and how she overcame that and recovered by finding self-love. She also shares how she now advocates for finding balance through body positivity and helping others push past their doubts and find love for themselves.
Julia’s work exists in the space between the psychological and the spiritual. Her professional training and formal education have always revolved around possibility, alchemy, and magic, likely long before she knew it to be so. She has studied psychology alongside religious studies with a focus on various mystical traditions, holds a Master’s in Counseling Psychology, and has training in yoga and meditation facilitation. She is also a wild one, most at home by the sea, deeply connected to a spirituality that is rooted in our bodies, of this earth. Her work is as informed by her training as her unique life experiences, which have brought her to depths that continually expand her capacity to see, hold, and be in awe of the people she gets to work with.
Julia is most connected to the traditions and practices held in her lineage of both Slavic and Scottish roots. She is continually inspired by what is alive in us in our darkest moments. Her approach is creative, compassionate, relational, and intuitive. In her therapeutic work, she pulls from several different modalities and works primarily with Existential Psychotherapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy alongside various teachings and tools of mindfulness and embodiment. She will integrate support from the animals and spirit world as those she supports see fit. Her ultimate intention is to support people back towards the wisdom and knowledge that is always within us.
