Why do Samoans not display love and affection in public or in a family setting? We share our experience on receiving hugs and kisses growing up in a Samoan household. Many of our island music is about love, yet we are raised on the idea of "tough love". When you were little watching TV with your parents, do you remember closing your eyes or looking away when an uncomfortable kissing scene comes on?
