Description

On that first Pentecost, the Spirit fell on the united disciples and filled them with power to talk about Jesus. Three thousand turned to God that day. Peter envisioned that we who are far off would also receive the promised Holy Spirit. Message based on Acts 2:1-4, 37-41.

Quotes:
Duane Brooks: I'm grateful that even when the church doesn't have electricity, we always have power

Most Kindle Highlights: The Hunger Games: Because sometimes things happen to people and they're not equipped to deal with them.

Duane Brooks: The same power that fell on the disciples and filled them is promised to us if we will receive it today.

Duane Brooks: We don’t have to live without spiritual power.  We do not have to be empty.  When the days were full for Pentecost, God, who fills the universe condescended to fill a room, and a small group of people and once they were changed, they changed the world.

Quote about D. L. Moody: I don’t mean to say Moody has a monopoly on the Holy Spirit, but the Holy Spirit has a monopoly on D. L. Moody.

Duane Brooks: The Spirit came powerfully on powerless people to empower them.

A. W. Tozer: If the Holy Spirit was withdrawn from the church today, 95 percent of what we do would go on and no one would know the difference. If the Holy spirit had been withdrawn from the New Testament church, 95 percent of what they did would stop, and everybody would know the difference.

Casey Brooks: Wherever I get married, God will be there.

David Martyn Lloyd-Jones: If we got all of the Holy Spirit at conversion and there is no need for any further experience, may I ask, what in God’s name have we done with him.

William Temple: Nobody can be indwelt by the Spirit of God and keep that Spirit to himself. Where the Spirit is, he flows forth. And where there is no flowing forth, he is not there.

Dave Peterson: Are you the one or do we wait for another?

Duane Brooks: The Holy Spirit comes to stay!
