Who deserves your kindness? When David consolidated his kingdom, he went looking for a relative of his predecessor to whom he could show covenant love. Mephibosheth received protection, provision, and position from David. Has anyone ever shown us more kindness than we deserve? Message based on 2 Samuel 9:1-13.
Quotes:
Dr. Jamie Aten: When our friends and loved ones are impacted by violence and mass trauma it can leave us feeling helpless, cause us to 'freeze' up, or say things we wouldn't normally say," often relying on harmful clichés. Dr. Aten claims that the best thing we can do is summed up in two words: "offer refuge.” He explains: Some examples of how you can serve as a refuge include listening with acceptance, being present in your helping, and giving the gift of connection …Love leads to loving action!
Duane Brooks: Mephibosheth has been called up to the table of a King. He has no father, but David will now be his father. He has been adopted into David’s family.

I was that Mephibosheth
Crippled by my twisted pride and
Hiding from You in a barren place
Where You could not find me
Where You would not give me what I deserved.
But somehow You found me and
I don’t understand why but You
Gave me what I do not deserve
You not only spared my desolate life but
You made it bountiful
And here at Your table
I will thank You, my King.
