Description

Message based on 1 Peter 3:13-22.
Are you scared? Peter knew all about fear. To save his own skin he denied Jesus three times. But the resurrection changed everything. As Peter lived in holy love and fear of the Lord, his other fears all fell away. He wrote about it in his first letter. How do we live fearlessly? When we live with a holy fear of the risen Lord, all other fears may fall away.

Quotes:
Spurgeon prayed:  O Jesus, if You don't come in person to Your waiting Church today, still come in Spirit to our sighing hearts, and make us sing for joy.

As an alternative to living from our amygdala with fight, flight or freeze responses, Isaiah says in Isaiah 8:17  I will wait for the Lord; I will put my trust in him.

R. C. Sproul in his book the Knowledge of God tells about waking up in his dormitory at college, answering God’s imperious summons, and slipping out into the night and going to a chapel on campus.  There he encountered a sense of holy awe.

We live with holy fear because we trust and treasure the goodness of God.

Aaron Damiani: The fear of God is not a fear that drives you away; it's a fear that beckons you.

F. W. Faber:  But fear is love, and love is fear. And in and out they move; But fear is an intenser joy than mere unfrightened love.
