Description

As we transition through menopause, we realise that our bodies start to behave differently, especially when it comes to exercise.  Quite often, what used to get us results in the past, no longer seems to work, which ultimately affects our quality of life.

So I’m thrilled to have Dr Maria Luque as my guest this week, as she is an expert in fitness and menopause, with over 20 years of hands-on fitness experience and a decade dedicated to studying menopause.

Dr. Luque, a former US Air Force Fitness Programme Manager, holds a PhD in health sciences and has conducted extensive research on the effects of physical activity on the quality of life during the menopausal transition.

Alongside her role as a fitness expert, health science professor, education content developer, and busy mother, she is also the founder of Fitness in Menopause, a company focused on helping women navigate the challenges and rewards of menopause.

During our conversation, we cover a range of topics, including:

🎙️  The biggest challenges faced by women during perimenopause
🎙️  Incorporating movement into everyday life without the need for a gym
🎙️  Finding joy in physical activity
🎙️  Tips for getting started after a period of inactivity
🎙️  The benefits of strength training as we age
🎙️  How strength is something we can all achieve
