Samantha and James started their commission salon, Samantha James Hair Design, in 2016 with the idea of creating an inviting atmosphere and having fun doing what they love. However, they quickly learnt how important it was to push the boundaries of the industry to stay relevant and at the forefront. Today, they have created a successful, Eco-friendly, 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusive space; they were the first to bring several initiatives to their Winnipeg salon, including silent services, and choose to put education at the core of their business.
Through many trials and errors, Samantha and James have figured out the importance of a partnership and what it means to the success or failure of a business. They have set boundaries, built systems and created policies over their seven years to help them not only keep sane but help more than double their stylist income, grow strong brand recognition and leave them debt free.
