Description

Derrick McManus is a speaker, facilitator and author who teaches high performers the power of Human Durability.

He was a police officer with the South Australian Police for 42 years. He spent 10 of those years with Special Tasks and Rescue Group (STAR). He has been a Sniper, Tactical- Diver, and Counter Terrorist Operative and did Close Quarter protection for the Queen when she was in South Australia. At the end of his police career, he taught leadership at the Police Academy.

Derrick knows first hand what it means to experience Human Durability. While part of the STAR group, his team went to arrest an offender. The offender shot Derrick 14 times with a .308 caliber in less than 5 seconds. It was 3 hours before he could be rescued. After 2 and a half years of intensive rehabilitation, Derrick was able to return to full duties with STAR group.

His experience taught him the value of Human Durability. His research includes collaborations with The University of South Australia School of Psychology and The Military and Emergency Health Services Health Australia.

When he has free time, you will find him spending time with his 4 kids, cycling, swimming, and hitting the gym.
