Creating a library with Beth about Pet loss is in Mazey's memory. We have created a library of episodes to be right here waiting for you if you need to hear them if you are experiencing pet loss grief or in the future this is something you may experience. We both want to normalise pet loss grief. Please share this episode with anyone who you think may need this.
This is the second full episode I have recorded with Beth. If you have not listened to the first episode I recorded with Beth earlier this year, please go and check out episode 58 (part 1) and episode 59 (part 2).
As always Beth shares with me some helpful tools.
In this episode we chat about:
-Our firsts when we loose our pet/s. The first vet visit, car trip, park visit, beach walk
-What we can do to prepare for our firsts and how we can honour our pets
- I share a number of personal stories and experiences about my own pet loss. For some of us why can pet loss hurt more than human loss
- What we can say when a loved one experiences pet loss
- What our animals are here to teach us
- The animals that get left behind. How can we best support them
We love our animals so much. When we lose them or face that possibility, it can be one of the hardest things we’ve ever gone through.
Beth Bigler was a writer and producer in Hollywood and was very happy in her career and in the middle of this her 11yo soul mate cat Arnie got a very bad prognosis - cancer. The anticipated and eventual loss of her Arnie, led her to seek out her own pet loss grief support, which profoundly aided her healing. It was lifesaving and transformative. In the middle of that process, Beth had the opportunity to help a stranger at the vet’s office who was faced with an unexpected euthanasia decision. She realised that she wanted to help others integrate loss into their lives and empower them on their grief journey. In this episode Beth shares her story as to why she left Hollywood and is now a double-certified Pet Loss Grief Counsellor, certified Pet Chaplain, and a certified end-of-life animal companion doula. Beth helps people from all around the world with grief counseling support before, during, or after the loss of their beloved animal companion.
