Episode 22 - Traditional Chinese Medicine with Catherine Davis
While some listeners may already be familiar with Traditional Chinese Medicine, there will likely be many more who are not. Today, we explore TCM and acupuncture from a perspective of holistic healing.
Traditional Chinese Medicine is a complete medical system that has been used for more than 2,000 years. TCM encompasses different approaches, which can include acupuncture and herbal medicine. And the results can truly be profound.
CATHERINE DAVIS
Catherine Davis is a Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) and Chinese Herbalist (MSOM), and Nationally Certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (Dipl.OM.), who incorporates energy healing, pulse balancing, meridian therapy, and D-Codes into her treatments. She is also trained as a yoga teacher in Vinyasa and Rocket Yoga, and gives patients specific poses and movements to take home and practice.
Catherine is native to Chestertown, Maryland, and obtained her Master's in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine at the Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, Colorado. Catherine also utilizes many intuitive methods in her practice, to help individuals understand the patterns they are working to shift, how they began, and how to transform them, to become the ultimate versions of themselves.
Catherine believes that knowledge and awareness of your mind and body are of utmost importance in accelerating your healing process. She believes you should give yourself the best chances possible to heal, which is inclusive of proper nutrition, hydration, exercise, recovery, meditation, fasting, and mindfulness.
After several years of graduate school, paired with herbal and practical internships, and extensive hours of study in metaphysical and esoteric realms of study, she has gained knowledge on various ways to approach a treatment, and is always evolving to fit the specific needs of the individual at any given time. She has a variety of approaches, including auricular (ear) acupuncture, moxibustion, meridian therapy, sound therapy, pattern tracking, and more.
Catherine enjoys working with individuals to increase their quality of life, and has embraced many perspectives, to find what is right for each patient. She loves to help people embrace their stressors, traumas, and emotions, and allow themselves to accept and let those experiences transform them into a better, and stronger, person.
Having dealt with anxiety and depression throughout her life due to everyday occurrences, or through experienced traumas, she relates to how debilitating it can be. She hopes to bring relief to those seeking it, to get a better sense of how and what they are feeling, and how the mind and body connect sensations of pain, mentally or emotionally.
