How many of you have experienced going to the ATM or using a debit card only to find out the needed funds weren’t there? Insufficient funds. Not enough. I have. It isn’t fun. Not only is it embarrassing if you are at the cashier, it is disheartening and discouraging because you don’t get what you needed when you needed it.
Many believers have experienced similar disappointment when it comes to prayer. They go to God requesting an answer only to come up short. Religion takes these moments and explains them away by saying “it must not have been God’s will for that person to be healed” or “God has greater plans for you to stay in debt”. Many doctrines have been formed from unanswered prayer.
The children of Israel went through this regularly. They would cry out to God but it seemed that God didn’t answer. They did not consider their own sins that were disconnecting them from the source itself.
The prophet Isaiah spoke a word to Israel in his time:
Isaiah 59:1
CEV
The Lord hasn't lost his powerful strength; he can still hear and answer prayers.
NLT
Listen! The Lord’s arm is not too weak to save you, nor is his ear too deaf to hear you call.
This is the God we serve. He is powerful to save and is able to hear and answer you when you call. And as it was with Israel, so it is with us: we have to keep the communication line open.
