Today's Season of Joy reflection on John 16:20-23 is by Fr. Richard Bollman, SJ.
Father Richard is a Jesuit priest living in Cincinnati at Xavier University. He works in retreat and spiritual ministry, and assists with worship at St. Robert Bellarmine parish where he was once pastor. Ordained in 1969, he also served at the University of San Francisco, and as Director of the Jesuit Renewal Center in Milford. Since his time as a pastor, he has been able to focus more on the ministry of spiritual direction.

Jesus said to his disciples: “Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy. When a woman is in labor, she is in anguish because her hour has arrived; but when she has given birth to a child, she no longer remembers the pain because of her joy that a child has been born into the world...
