Description

Have you ever hit a season in your business where you just felt super burnt out? Maybe you are in one right now. What if I told you that your hesitancy to schedule a ‘check out’ is the root cause of that burn out?

My closest friend and I had an annual Girls’ Trip where we’d flock to the beach and leave behind the kiddos and work. It’s restorative and gives us much-needed time to catch up and pour into each other and ourselves.

Come April 2020, when our trip was canceled. One year later, we found ourselves busy in the midst of life and business. And now, finally, we are back on for a Girl’s trip this month!

This is my first real trip since beginning my business. And instead of anticipation and excitement, I’m finding myself filled with dread and worry. Thoughts like: ‘If I take this trip, am I putting my business at risk?’ My business has experienced so much  growth and momentum this year, is me stepping away for a vacation going to harm my business?

Let’s talk about that belief and normalize it. Because friend, I know I’m not alone in thinking that. I don’t think ANY business owner can step away without some level of trepidation. Why? Because we're invested in our business! Because our business can feel like a child that we’ve nurtured and watched grow up. It's perfectly normal to worry.

The truth is, taking time away is essential to operating a successful business. First of all, one move is not going to dismantle your business. One action didn’t build your business, so one action is (most likely) not going to destroy it.

Listen, if we do not intentionally check out, we will most certainly burn out.

One more time for everyone in the back! If we do not intentionally check out, we will most certainly burn out.

Rest is a part of work. Recharging should be on our calendars just like work is on our calendars. Do the rest, don’t just do the work.

You’re the boss, remember?
