Description

In this week's episode I talk to Sarah Child all about couples counselling. We're going to talk openly about what it is like to work with couples rather than an individual. We've been through a difficult couple of years and this has tested some relationships and strengthened others and Sarah tells us of some of the impacts she has seen for couples. We discuss the practicalities of counselling couples including how she sets the scene, contracting with the couple, tasks  and exercises used and how she remains neutral with the couple. So let's learn together how behaviours impact relationships and how to put the relationship itself at the centre of the session.

About Sarah:
As a therapist I work with both individuals and couples. In offering couples therapy my aim is to provide you with a safe, private space to explore any issues or concerns within your relationship. It is an opportunity to gain new perspectives of each other and learn new ways of being together. This is often enabled by improving communication and exploring differences, conflict styles, intimacy and identifying both partners wants and needs.

My role as your therapist is to support you both in a caring and non judgemental way, to facilitate good communication between you and help you find the way forward that is right for each of you.
