On December 19, 1979, Michelle Martinko made her way to Westdale Mall to purchase some things and chatted with friends and acquaintances while she was doing so. As the mall's closing time approached, Michelle decided it was time to head home so she left and made her way to her car. Sadly, she would never make it home. Michelle's body was found inside her car in the early hours of December 20th, still parked at the mall's parking lot. She had been brutally stabbed and cut. Her killer would not be brought to justice until 40 years later, and it was advances in DNA and the fight she put up that would finally make it happen.
