Dussehra signified the victory of good over evil and the rebirth of hope and faith. Vijaya Dashami or Dussehra will be celebrated on 5th October this year. On this auspicious day, Maa Durga killed the demon Mahisasura, and Lord Ram killed Ravana. The Dussehra marks the end of Navaratri, a nine-day long event in which the goddess Durga is worshipped. The Durga Puja is done with great excitement and enthusiasm all across the country. On the day of Dussehra, the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran, and Meghanath are burnt to celebrate the victory.
