Parker is Head of Community at FinTech Collective and on the founding team of Boys Club - a DAO social club that welcomes and onboards women and non-binary individuals to web3. With a longtime interest in systems of power and a background in tech and product management, Parker found her way into web3 after realizing blockchain’s potential to reinvent all of those fields.
Parker begins our conversation by giving some background into systems of power and explaining how blockchain is not just disrupting many of these legacy systems, but offering true fundamental alternatives. We also discuss how the open nature of web3 is allowing previously excluded groups and individuals to get in on the ground floor of this new wave of tech.
As one of the founding members of Boys Club, Parker brings us back to the very early days and speaks on the DAO’s vibe, growth, and goals. She also dives into some of the research and prep she did in order to help lay the foundation for Boys Club (spoiler alert: starting a DAO is hard). We then discuss whether or not every organization should be a DAO and the importance of a strong mission within a DAO.
Finally, we pivot it into the roles that VCs play in web3, the relationships they have (and should have) with founders, and the value in letting the community lead.
