Description

How much do you move in a day? We all know movement is life. It enhances our lives in ways we cannot imagine. According to Petra Fisher, a movement coach, working on your feet pays off. It connects us to the ground. Our feet hugely impact our ankles, knees, hips, pelvic floor, low back, spine, neck, and shoulders.

Petra joined the outdoor movement after having a career in the corporate world that didn't feel like the IT for her. Her body was physically broken, and she wouldn't do a lot of things. The therapy sessions she attended made her realise she loved working with bodies more than being in corporate. It led her to movement coaching. She started working with Katie Bowman.

Petra enjoyed how her life was changing for the better and decided to quit her job to pursue her newfound journey, which gave her the freedom to be outdoors all the time.
In this episode, Petra shares how movement changed her life, what inspired her to become an outdoor person, the benefits of adding movement to your daily routines, the different places she has lived, and her journey to developing strong, happy feet, among other things.

Magical Gems from the Episode:
"How you feel after surfing is such an intense flow state that I always find it very hard to get anything else done."

"When you're thinking about your movement life, there's a huge place for specific, focused exercises to help you figure out those blind spots and repatterning."

"CARS, as a regular daily practice, let you move all your joints and all of their biggest ranges."

"Our culture is good at measuring and avoiding acute risks, things that will kill you, but that doesn't happen very often."

"A foot transition is never a single journey. You don't go from a shot human to a barefoot human and expect that your feet will be fine. What your feet are going to do is evolve constantly in response to the movement environment that you're giving them."

"People think travelling is being on holiday, which it is not. For me travelling was about this constant adaptation to the unknown."

"I like to think about my life more as a set of toolboxes and priorities."
"We need to start making movement more normal if we all want to thrive."
