Psalm, Chapter 100
All People Exhorted to Praise God.
A Psalm for [a]Thanksgiving.
100 Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.
- The title of this message is instruction based
o It is addressed to all people
o We have all been “exhorted”
§ To strongly encourage or urge (someone) to do something
o Here is what we have been “exhorted to do”
§ Praise God
o Praise is a verb in connotes action and requires
§ Premeditated thought
§ Preparation of the heart
§ Determination of the soul
§ Movement of the lips
§ Raising of arms and/or hands or both
§ With absolute adoration, approval and gratitude
- It is a Psalm for Thanksgiving
o This is the purpose of this activity
§ to Thank God for what He has given
§ His Son to pay for all sin
§ His Plan of salvation before the earth began
§ His Will making it impossible to fail
§ His Love for “while we were yet sinners He sent His Son to die on a cross”
· In other words while we were misbehaving badly, He still loved us
§ His Faithfulness
· Keeping His word (all His promises) even when we don’t
§ His Grace
· Giving us what we do not deserve
§ His Mercy
· Not giving us what we do deserve
§ His Home
· The very place called “The New Jerusalem”
· A 1,500 mile cube made of precious stones & clear gold
· Heaven a much bigger version of the New Jerusalem up yonder
§ His Power
· Giving us the power to overcome everything on earth
· Greater is He that is in us than he that is the world
§ His Forgiveness
· Forgiving us for every sin (past, present & future)
§ His making us white as snow
· Not only forgiven but washed in the blood & made white as snow
· As if we have never sinned
§ His Rebirth
· Christ rose from the dead 3-days later
· Now we can be born again in this life (a new creation not the same)
§ His Reconciliation
· Bringing us back into intimate relationship with Himself
· A Holy God with His People (made Holy again by His Righteousness)
§ His Provision
· He provides food, water, oxygen, health, ability to see, hear, smell, taste, touch, speak
§ His protection
· Shelter from the storms of life
· Protection against the plans of evil men
· Protection against evil forces in high places
· Against the power of the devil and all his mininions
