Psalm, Chapter 107
The Lord Delivers Men from Manifold Troubles.
107 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
- The title is a statement of fact
o The Lord Delivers Men from Manifold Troubles
o This means the Lord rescues men from many troubles
o Whatever trouble you have; God can deliver you through it!
- Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good
o Why is the Lord good?
o Because He delivers us from manifold troubles (all of them)
- For His lovingkindness is everlasting
o This promise is forever (its still good today)
2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,
Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the adversary
3 And gathered from the lands,
From the east and from the west,
From the north and from the [a]south.
- Let the redeemed of the Lord say so
o That’s you and I
o Redeemed means purchased back
o God paid for you sins and mine with His blood instead of ours
o If you receive it – SAY SO
4 They wandered in the wilderness in a [b]desert region;
They did not find a way to [c]an inhabited city.
5 They were hungry [d]and thirsty;
Their soul fainted within them.
- Sometimes it feels like we are wandering the desert too
- We can’t seem to find our way either
- We to get hungry and thirsty (impatient)
- Sometimes we feel like we’re going to faint
6 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble;
He delivered them out of their distresses.
- Notice they cried out to the Lord = He delivered them ! - FAITHFUL
7 He led them also by a [e]straight way,
To go to [f]an inhabited city.
8 Let them give thanks to the Lord for His lovingkindness,
And for His [g]wonders to the sons of men!
- He led them also by a straight way
o The shortest possible distance to the right place (quickly)
- Give thanks to the Lord for His lovingkindness
o Because He helps us!
- And for His wonders to the sons of men
o His wonders are almost not believable they are so fantastic (outblessed)
