Psalm, Chapter 111
The Lord Praised for His Goodness.
111 [a]Praise [b]the Lord!
I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart,
In the company of the upright and in the assembly.
- The Lord praised for His goodness
o We should praise the Lord because of His Goodness
§ He forgave us
§ He saved us
§ He loves us
§ He paid for our sins
§ He is coming to take us to heaven
- Praise the Lord!
o This is what we need to do (not should do)
- I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart
o Whatever you give from your heart is meaningful
o With all your heart means its super meaningful & important to you
- In the company of the upright and in the assembly
o The company of the upright
§ These are fellow believers
o And in the assembly
§ These are larger meetings
§ They would include church meetings
· Where people assemble to praise God
o Let them all heart your voice thanking God with all your heart!
2 Great are the works of the Lord;
They are [c]studied by all who delight in them.
- Great are the works of the Lord
o Great means awesome and good (bigger than what man can do)
- They are studied by all who delight in them
o Believers should study His works
§ What He did
§ What He made
§ How He did it
o If you delight in the things of God; God will grant you the desires of your heart
o Every promise contained in His word!
3 [d]Splendid and majestic is His work,
And His righteousness endures forever.
- Splendid and majestic is His work
o Splendid means “magnificent; very impressive”
o Majestic means “having or exhibiting majesty”; “impressive dignity”
o This is a description of His work (it has a godly quality to it)
- And His righteousness endures forever
o Righteousness is “the quality of being morally right or justifiable”
o Jesus was morally right because He never sinned
o Jesus always did the will of the Father
o Therefore His righteousness endures forever
o This means it lives on forever & ever
