Psalm, Chapter 14

Foolishness and Wickedness of People.

For the music director. A Psalm of David.

14 The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.”
 They are corrupt, they have committed detestable acts;
 There is no one who does good.

-          Foolishness and Wickedness of People

o   This title shows the relationship between Foolishness and Wickedness

o   Where there is one, you will always find the other

-          The fool has said in heart, “There is no God”

o   The fool is the subject matter

o   The problem is a matter of the heart

o   The deciding factor is that the fool believes “There is no God”

o   I believe its because that’s what they want to believe

§  If they believe there is no God they can do whatever they want

§  If they believe there is a God, then there is right and wrong 

·         And they become accountable

·         Therefore, they can’t do whatever they want

·         So they choose to believe a lie 

-          They are corrupt, they have committed detestable acts

o   They are corrupt

·         Officials were corrupted by greed.

·         The fruits were transported without being corrupted.

-          They have committed detestable acts

o   Detestable

§  arousing or meriting intense dislike : ABOMINABLE

-          there is no one who does good

o   David seems to have determined that there is no longer anyone who does good
