Psalm, Chapter 24
The King of Glory Entering Zion.
A Psalm of David.
24 The earth is the Lord’s, and [a]all it contains,
The world, and those who dwell in it.
- The King of Glory Entering Zion
o This title would be the fulfillment of ancient prophecy
o Remember Zion is a reference to a mountain in Jerusalem
§ The place where the New Jerusalem will hover over the land
§ A 1,500 mile cube made of precious stones and gold
o David is looking forward to the return of Christ
§ The first time He came as a Lamb
§ The next time is He is coming as The King of Glory (in His full glory)
- The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains
o This means all the land
o this means all the real estate
o this means all the gold and silver
o this means all the oil and all the precious stones
o it all belongs to the Lord (not the devil)
- the world, and those who dwell in it
o this transitions from material things to living things
o those who dwell mean they are living there (it is their home)
o you might say this is in reference to souls (beyond the physical into eternal)
o we were bought with a price, we are not our own, we belong to Jesus Christ
2 For He has founded it upon the seas
And established it upon the rivers.
- For he has founded it upon the seas
o how do you found something up on the sea
o the water is deep and it is constantly moving
o and yet God formed the land upon it (the speaks of His great power and wisdom)
- and establish it upon the rivers
o to establish something means to build something as well
o to build something up on the river means you must battle moving water
o rivers don't just run above ground the ulcer run under the ground
o they are different than seas because they are freshwater and it's drinkable
o God established some places upon the rivers in order that people might have fresh water to drink
o One more quick note to establish something means that it's permanent it doesn't come and go it's established which means it's going to remain and serve its purpose for which it was intended
