Description

Psalm, Chapter 25

Prayer for Protection, Guidance and Pardon.

A Psalm of David.

25 To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
 2 O my God, in You I trust,
 Do not let me be ashamed;
 Do not let my enemies exult over me.

-          In the title of this chapter we have three ingredients

o   first a prayer for protection

o   second guidance

o   and 3rd a pardon

-          it may be interesting to note that first you pray for protection from God; what follows is that he will guide you because of your prayer; and then he will pardon your sin which is really what will keep you in the place of His protection.

-          to You, oh Lord, I lift up my soul

o   David is lifting up his soul (the part of you that lives forever)

o   in other words he is relying on Jesus Christ for his eternal salvation and destination

-          Oh my God, in You I trust

o   notice that David is putting his trust in God unto salvation

o   that's the only place to put your trust

-          Do not let me be ashamed

o   do not let my enemies exalt over me

o   in other words David is relying upon his trust in God as the answer in response to his enemies.

 3 Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed;
[a]Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed.

-          Indeed none of those who wait for You will be ashamed

o   the word indeed is an absolute

o   the word nun means none, zero, or without exception

o   if you are waiting for the Lord or upon the Lord you will never be ashamed

-          those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed

o   this is the opposite of those who put their faith and trust in the Lord

o   there are people who deal treacherously (they are in fact the ones who will be ashamed for their evil deeds will be exposed and God will judge them accordingly)
