A Psalm of David.
26 [a]Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity,
And I have trusted in the Lord [b]without wavering.
- Protestation of Integrity and Prayer for Protection
o A solemn or formal declaration of a fact, opinion, or resolution: an asseveration: as, protestations of friendship or of amendment.
o Integrity means Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code.
o David wants to declare his integrity
§ That he is adhering to God’s laws in a strict manner
§ Therefore (implied) he makes a prayer for protection
§ If you walking the straight line, God will protect you!
- Vindicate me,
o To clear of accusation, blame, suspicion, or doubt with supporting arguments or proof.
o To defend, maintain, or insist on the recognition of (one's rights, for example).
o To demonstrate or prove the value or validity of; justify.
- O LORD, for I have walked in my integrity
o Again David seems think God will listen, will vindicate him
o Because he has walked in integrity
o Protection and vindication are the blessings of walking in integrity
- And I have trusted in the LORD without wavering.
o And means that in addition to walking in integrity
o David also trusted in the Lord without wavering (not back and forth)
o this is another reason why David believes that God will answer him
o when you pray don't waver in your expectation that God will answer you
