Description

Psalm, Chapter 27

A Psalm of Fearless Trust in God.

A Psalm of David.

27 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
 Whom should I fear?

-          What does it mean to have Fearless trust in God

o   It means that you consider you present circumstances, trials and difficulties and you look them straight in the face and say

§  God is bigger than you

§  God is stronger than you

§  God is wiser than you

§  God is exceedingly more powerful than you

§  God is able to do abundantly above all that I can ask or think (which really means imagine)

-          In order to get this level of Fearless Trust in God here is the key

o   You must believe in who He is first

-          In the first verse of chapter 27; David declares who He is

o   The Lord is my light and my salvation

§  To be your light means He is the one responsible for light so that you may see and know and comprehend anything (for without light you are in utter darkness and nothing makes sense)

§  And my salvation; this means you must recognize that your salvation (you being saved) is 100% codependent upon Him and nobody else.

§  He is either your Savior or you don’t one – period.

o   So here is the point, if God is your light and responsible for your ability to see and comprehend and understand

o   And if He is your savior who make a plan to save you and He is alive and well and His plan is in process even now

o   Then you can say what David says next

-          Whom should I fear?

o   It is a rhetorical question

o   The answer is nobody

o   If God is light, then you can see Him and understand Him through His word and you can learn about what He did to save you (it’s already been done)

-          So at this very moment, the light is either on or off

o   Which is it?

-          There is no mixing light with darkness (it doesn’t work scientifically)

o   When light is present, darkness ceases to exists

-          The type of fear implies the fear of judgement before eternity (it looks forward in time)
