Psalm, Chapter 93
The Majesty of the Lord.
93 The Lord [a]reigns, He is clothed with majesty;
The Lord has clothed and encircled Himself with strength.
- The Title is “The Majesty of the Lord”
o Majesty means “impressive stateliness, dignity, or beauty”
o Have you considered the Majesty of the Lord lately
- The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty
o The Lord reigns is a declaration of fact
§ He is the ultimate authority in complete control 100%
o He is clothed with majesty
§ Not in majesty but with majesty which mean it is inherently himself
- The Lord has clothed and enriched Himself with strength
o Notice again it is the Lord who enriched Himself (His ability & power)
Indeed, the world is firmly established; it will not be moved.
2 Your throne is established from of old;
You are from eternity.
- Indeed, the world is firmly established; it will not be moved
o This means God created it according to His will & power
o It is solid, immovable and will remain according to God’s will & plan
- Your throne is established from of old
o This means His throne was established before the world was formed
- You are from eternity
o From eternity means from eternity past
3 The floods have lifted up, Lord,
The floods have lifted up their voice,
The floods lift up their pounding waves.
- The floods have lifted up, Lord
o This means the water is getting higher
- The floods have lifted up their voice
o This means the sound is getting louder
- The floods lift up their pounding waves
o Now there’s waves and there pounding (loud & scary)
4 More than the sounds of many waters,
Than the mighty breakers of the sea,
The Lord on high is mighty.
- More than the sounds of many waters
o This is means many waves and continuous sound
- Than the mighty breakers of the sea
o The breakers are made of rock and cause waves to crash
- The Lord on high is mighty
o These rising of the tides, the crashing waves, the pounding
o All of these illustrate God’s power over the earth
5 Your testimonies are fully confirmed;
Holiness is pleasing to Your house,
Lord, [b]forevermore.
