Psalm, Chapter 95

Praise to the Lord, and Warning against Unbelief.

95 O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord,
Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.

-          The title of this message contains two messages

o   Praise to the Lord (this is 1st and most important)

o   And Warning against Unbelief (this is 2nd but still important)

o   God want us to Praise Him (don’t forget this)

o   God wants to warn us against unbelief (don’t forget this either)

2 Let us come before His presence with [a]thanksgiving,
Let us shout joyfully to Him with [b]psalms.

-          Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving

o   Thanking Him for giving us grace & mercy

o   Thanking Him for giving us salvation

o   Thanking Him for being a Loving Father & God

o   Thanking Him for hearing our prayers

o   Thanking Him in advance for answering our prayers!

-          Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms

o   Does your joy rise to the level of a shout or is it a slight wimper

o   When you praise Him it should be JOYFULL & LOUD

o   When you praise Him it should include psalms (repeating His word; His promises!)

o   Thank Him that His word is true and applies today as it did yesterday & forever!

3 For the Lord is a great God
And a great King above all gods,
4 In whose hand are the depths of the earth,
The peaks of the mountains are His also.

-          For the Lord is a great God And a great King above all gods

o   This is a declaration of who He is (there is none like Him)

o   He is the One True Almighty, All powerful, Omniscient, Ever Present God

-          In whose hand are the depths of the earth

o   Imagine Him scooping down His hand to the bottom of the Ocean?

o   Imagine Him scooping down His hand to center of the Earth?

o   This speaks of the power in His hand (consider the power & love)

-          The peaks of the mountains are His also

o   Consider the from the depths of the earth to the highest peaks of mountains

o   The mountains speak of His majesty, size, power, strength, awesomeness

5 [c]The sea is His, for it was He who made it,
And His hands formed the dry land.

-          Imagine owning the Ocean

-          Imagine if you had the power to make it

-          Imagine using your hands to gather up the dry land like clay

6 Come, let us worship and bow down,
Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.

-          Come (in light of what you just learned about Him)

-          Let us worship and bow down
