- HAIR UP OR HAIR DOWN? Hair up in Hawaii makes more sense - it’s hot, it’s humid. Understand your environment when choosing your hairstyle.
- PRO TIP: The person who cuts your hair may not be the best person to do your wedding day hair if they’re not familiar with weddings - timing of the day, keeping a hold on hairstyle all day.
- WATERPROOF MAKEUP? Always yes.
- PRO TIP: Tap, don’t wipe. Even if you use waterproof makeup, if you’re wiping your face all the time, it will come off. Tap, don’t wipe.
- SUNSCREEN? No, because of the flashback that zinc and other mineral sunscreens can cause. If you really want to apply it, put it on 2 hours before
- TESSA’S TIP: Always, always use sunscreen!!
- AIRBRUSH OR LIQUID? There are so many good foundations out there - long wear is key, and the type of foundation will depend on your skin type. Trust your makeup artist to pick the best one for your skin.
- PRO TIP: Dewy doesn’t always work in Hawaii weather. Highlighting is a great option to create a dewy effect.
- NUDE OR RED? DRAMATIC OR NATURAL? Depending on the client, wedding vibe, etc. Be careful with red lips - it can stain and also get on your teeth.
