Do you know anyone who’s been married 3x… to the same person? We do, and we’re EXCITED to welcome them as our very first guests. Megan and Andrew Tran have a wedding videography company together (@redefinedweddings), he also does commercial videography (@redefinedfilms) and co-hosts a podcast (@uncut_hawaii)! Introducing: Megan and Andrew Tran of Redefined Weddings
- 3 weddings, oh my! Wedding #1 - a small, local wedding so grandparents could attend, Wedding #2 - Las Vegas, with Elvis during their bachelor/bachelorette weekend, Wedding #3 - Italy, in a private villa with 36 of their closest family and friends!
- Real wedding perspective from a couple who works in the industry:
- Actually going through the wedding planning process was an eye opener, looking at it from a couple’s perspective (not as vendors).
- Your wedding day goes by in a blur - prioritize capturing all the moments you might miss (you can’t be everyone at the same time).
- For destination weddings, prioritize the entire experience - welcome dinner, wedding, post wedding events - and document it all with photo/video!
- It’s easy to get lost trying to make everyone happy, but make this experience special to you, and represent who you are as a couple.
- Favorite moments in Italy? M: The fluidity of the wedding day - natural transitions from each part of the day, largely due to their live, acoustic, moving band. A: The welcome dinner - it was the first time everyone was able to gather together, be fully present, and have fun!
- Best advice to share with couples planning a destination wedding:
- M: Hire a wedding planner/coordinator that lives in your destination location! They have all the knowledge that you don’t.
- M+A: Trust your vendors and select vendors that you VIBE with - you need to get along with them since they’ll be with you all day long.
- A: A destination wedding isn’t just one day - it’s an experience so be sure to think about all the activities that happen before/after your wedding day. It was so worth it to get photo/video to cover the entire week vs just the wedding day.
- So, do we hire local vendors or fly in our own team? Definitely hire a local wedding planner - they’re the resource you need for your destination. For your other vendors, hire the one that you vibe/connect with the most!
- PRO TIP: Getting married abroad is difficult, so consider getting married locally, then having an unofficial ceremony overseas.
- PRO TIP: If you’re able, go to the destination location the year before to see the venue and weather, meet your vendors, taste the food. It makes it real and gives you something to look forward to.
- Fun add ons: M+A wanted CO2 cannons, a champagne tower, a choreographed dance, and a sparkler exit.
M+A mentioned these wedding vendors:
- Tuscany Wedding Planner @weddingsintuscany
- Venue @montaltointoscana
- Live Band @knightsclub.vip
- Photo @lauren.e.radar
- Video @jaymackfilms
