Wayne Cooney, the Principal Systems Integration Manager at MTR Corporation Limited.
Wayne started his professional career in December 1998 as an IT and communication systems Trainee. He finished up his traineeship and commenced in the railways in 2002 as a maintainer in the RailCorp Communications and Control Systems division, working his way through a distinguished career of 20+ years of design, delivery and commissioning of signalling control, automatic train protection and overall rail systems of major and mega rail projects.
He has a bit of career diversity too – and commissioned the traffic management and control system for NorthConnex road tunnel.
Wayne has worked in operations and maintenance, projects and the entire project lifecycle. He has even previously part-owned and run a rail system consulting business. Today he works exclusively for MTR as a one of its key rail system delivery experts in Australasia.
Wayne has post-grad education in Telecommunications Engineering from Wollongong University.
In between kids’ sports, Wayne enjoys fresh water and salt water fishing, rugby league and rugby union, a beer or glass of red wine, and odd flutter on the horses.
He is truly a rail systems expert with real world, hands on, demonstrated multi discipline experience of heavy rail, metro and light rail systems.
