Episode 21
Join your hosts Carmen and Sophia Micsa to learn how SRA elite master runner Jacob Nur found his passion in life and how you can do the same. Jacob Nur is also the fastest master elite American runner in the 5K distance in the 65 to 69 age group. He broke the national record by 31 seconds, running his 5K in 17 minutes, which is a 5:28 per mile/pace.
Jacob Nur is a 67-year-old Eritrean American, who immigrated to the USA in 1984. The challenges he faced as an immigrant and more importantly upon his arrival here in the USA gave me so much mental strength to look at life from a growth perspective. Jacob received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from San Jose State University and further obtained his Masters of Science in Nursing from Dominguez State University. As a registered nurse, Jacob has worked in various specialties. He also was promoted to a leadership role, ending his role as a chief nurse before his retirement.
In his mid-50s, Jacob discovered running as a hobby. In no time, he fell in love with it. After a few years, Jacob could run faster and surpass his own expectations by becoming a world-class runner for his age group.
Jacob Nur has great fitness and mental tips:
