My runner friend and book club member Christine Ward and I discuss the books we read in 2022. We each had two favorite ones that we discuss more in-depth. 

1. Between Two Kingdoms – by Suleika Jaqouad, a memoir 

2. Cultish: The Language of Fanaticism by Amanda Montell, nonfiction

3. Klara and the Sunby Kazuo Ishiguro, novel/fiction

4. Cloud Cuckoo Land  by Anthony Doerr, novel

5. Empire of Pain, The Secret History of the Sackler Dynasty by Patrick Radden Keefe, nonfiction – a powerful book and one of the most impressive feats of journalism. 

6. Bewilderment by Richard Powers, novel 

7. Finding the Mother Treeby Suzanne Simard, nonfiction

8. The Sweetness of Waterby Nathan Harris, novel

8. All the Lovers in the Night by Mieko Kawakami, named best literary fiction for 2022. I discovered this Japanese author in London. I bought her signed book Heaven and absolutely loved it! Her writing flows like a river; although it is deep, it has a beautiful simplicity. 

9.   No One is Talking About This by Patricia Lockwood, novel

10. San Fransicko Why Progressives Ruin the Cities by Michael Shellenberger,  nonfiction

11. Crying in H-mart by Michelle Zauner, memoir
