The pearl is created by a clam’s ability to hold the discomfort of a foreign body irritating its soft, fleshy interior, and without this endurance of pain, the pearl would never form. If the clam does not react to the irritant or grit, it will be killed. By coming into relationship with the irritant the clam slowly forms very thin layer after very thin layer of coating to protect itself thereby creating the pearl. It does not reject the imperfection it comes into relationship with it. If we cannot learn to bear the pressure of consciousness with all of its terrifying unknowns, we will never get to experience the treasure of our Souls. So instead of floundering hopelessly in the mentality of victim, can we rally against our fear of change and pain, expand our tolerance of the unknown and hold this vision of an ever evolving force that conspires to give us greater gifts than our ego minds can fathom?
